INTERCULTURAL

Intercultural

Among my 3 main drawings which I drew for the final were butterflies, flowers and a drawng of earth. I have chosen the flower to be my main picture as a flower brings out so many meanings to an intercultural being. I have drawn a simple flower and colored it differently as every color has its own perspective or viewpoint in culture.

1st Drawing

I have only changed the background color of the drawing and added few different colors on the butterfly.

I have also changed the texture of the background to a little rough texture.

 2nd Drawing

For this drawing, I have only changed the color of the earth and the people surrounding it. I also edited the background and given it a brighter background.

   Final Drawing
-Flower Drawing-

-I drew this flower and outlined the edges with darker black marker. I have used bright colors for the flowers and i used two colors as for blue, I have used a light and dark coating.

- I started by setting the size of the drawing to (16 by 20 ) portrait.

-     -     I wanted to create an interesting effect to my painting, so I used few tools to create a colorful drawing. Since it is intercultural, I blended in bright colors such as blue, red and purple. I moved from light to dark tone in giving a flower a bright effect.
-       -   I used black for the background to bring out the flower and I tiled up the drawing to make it look more interesting.
-      -   I also used lasso tool to make sure that my outside lining which I darken with black ink to be right border line. I also used this tool to inserts colors in.

After editing, my final piece of the flower created this effect which is brighter. I defined the colors of the flowers for three main races here which are Malay, Indian and Chinese.

As stated in my earlier design work, the artist that I choose as a reference was Leonardo da Vinci. To achieve and closely relate my drawings to him, I have chosen to use different color and background to somewhat come up with an artwork that is similar to Leonardo da Vinci.

-       -  I have changed the color of the flower and the background to a darker color. I choose to go with brown and I played along with the tone of brown from dark to light to give an effect to the drawing.
-     -    I changed the texture of the drawing, and used a soft brush stroke approach towards the flower drawing.
-       -     I also used the distort tool and gave it a diffuse glow to bring out the drawing.

-        - I used the color brown, from light to dark brown and adjust the drawing. the lower part is darker and its gets lighter towards the up.

- I adjust the graininess, glow and clear amount of the drawing to give it an effect. I created a mild glow on the painting.

After adjusting everything, I have given it an edgy look and I have related my flower more to my reference artist.

My final art piece was a combination from all of my tryout towards my drawing. I gave my drawing a classy look and made sure it is more on intercultural. I have closely related my final artwork to my reference artist. I used his ways on darkening the edges of my painting and filled my center to look real. I have emphasized my flower in a way it gets clearer as it reaches the main viewpoint.

-         I have controlled the brightness and the sharpness of the picture

Finally, I gave it a little poster effect. I have also used brush stroke tools for the edges of the painting.

The Last Supper
The Baptism of Christ
 The Principles of Design

This introduction focuses on the elements that are most relevant to two-dimensional (flat) art works. Other elements include point, motion and elements related to three-dimensional art such as mass and volume.

Unity - although there should be some difference in the elements in a design, all elements taken together should work together to create a single, coherent design.

Conflict - although to achieve unity in a design most elements need to be similar, or serve a similar function, there should be some contradiction to add variety and life to the work.

Dominance - to help in achieving unity, one element out of the many elements that make up a design should predominate; i.e. there should be more of one color than any other, or dark values should predominate over lighter values, etc.

Mona Lisa
Repetition - the repetition of elements, such as geometric shapes, helps to create a sense of rhythm and unite the various elements in the design.  Alternation - variety is necessary in order to prevent monotony; i.e. breaking up a large area of shadow with a patch of light.

Harmony - all elements in a design work together visually in an orderly fashion

Elements Of Design

Line - the path of a point. In the first image, Leonardo da Vinci used a soft, sensitive soft line to create a graceful image. The center image has the same subject. The woman's face is created with a mechanical line creating an emotionally-detached feeling. Although the subject matter is the same in all three works, the differences in line quality have created works with very different impact.

Shape - perceivable area. Shapes can be created by line, or by color and value changes which define their edges. As with line, the decisions you make concerning shape are important. The shapes in the image on the left are clearly defined. By contrast, little shapes on the picture is barely discernable. This difference in clarity of shape is part of the meaning of these works - one conveys a sense of orderliness and confidence, while the other communicates a sense of vulnerability and uncertainty. The shapes of the objects that surrounds the place in the images are positive shapes. The spaces around these shapes are the negative spaces. the painting has an important to be attentive to the negative space as the positive shapes.

Color - We response to color on many levels. Color can be used simply to describe an object. It can also be used emotional (blue for sadness or spiritually, red for angry), symbolically (associated with a flag's color, corporation logo or sports team) and psychologically. The painting of The Last Supper has intense, complimentary colors that equate to strong conflicting emotions. The painting work uses subdued, analogous color to create a very different feeling.

Space - height and width. the painting display has two actual dimensions -height and width. In addition, Leonardo created an illusion of depth, using overlapping, diminishing scale, atmospheric perspective, vertical placement, warm and cool colors, diagonals and linear perspective.

Texture - surface quality. We experience actual texture when we touch objects and feel their roughness, smoothness or patterns, which we can simulate or imply in digital imagery. His paintings were different according to the tone and the different perspectives his painting symbolizes.

Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo was born in Vinci, Italy on April 15th, 1452.  Leonardo was a man who grew up in an artistic environment where his father taught him how to paint. His paintings have inspired people from all parts of the world. His famous paintings were The Baptism of Christ, The Last Supper and Mona Lisa.

Leonardo Da Vinci was known to her because of his work of art on the catholic way of beliefs and his famous drawings were about Christ. Since she was young, she was taught about the famous drawings of Leonardo, and since then she was very much interested in going deep about his paintings. Elyna has been inspired with his work of art as it is very detailed and all the paintings are full with expressions. She has captured his art in varies different angles and learnt to appreciate them in many different ways as understanding paintings is at times a difficult task to do. One known painting may speak about different things at times for different kind of people as they perceive things differently.

Leonardo da Vinci is a world famous artist and his paintings have been spoken out through everyone. He has accomplished so many meaningful situations with his work of art.
